Formerly known as the CDOCO (Centre de développement et d`organisation communautaire) the JGF already has many remarkable achievements in the environmental, agricultural and agro-food fields. The activities lead by its members and its project team have greatly contributed to the economical development of thousands of families in the lower central plateau region.
A Few Achievements
From 1989 to 1995 – thanks to the combined actions of our team and of the BAC, and under the supervision of Mr. Ivon Cabouet and Ruth Sanonime of the CDOCO – we have trained and guided 164 groups of women through our project of dried mangoes and new transformative technologies, such as marketable peanut butter, the a-k 100 (typical Haitian drink made from corn) wine made from corn, mango jelly and jam, flour made of the fruit of the “arbre vertitable” (Lam veritab in Creole), etc.
Please note that the dried mangoes branch has been initiated by the BAC (marketing support bureau), a non-governmental Canadian-Haitian organization. Thanks to this NGO’s financing, 3 transformation centers were built in juampas, loncy and saco. The small projects, that are managed and executed by women’s organizations, with the support of local technicians trained on site, have given the women involved the chance to attain financial autonomy.
- We have made a donation of many dozens of peanut mills to women in vulnerable status living in rural communities. Thanks to these mills, that grin the corn necessary for the a-k 100 and the peanuts necessary for the butter, these farming women have gone from minimal gains arising from low-scale agriculture to a regular income linked to the transformation of these products.
- In a partnership with the Centre d’étude et de coopération internationale (CECI), we were also able to encourage intercommunity exchanges between young leading farmers. Many seminars have been organized at La Croix des bouquets, with the help of the CECI and the financial support of the BAC.
Other Achievements
- Thanks to donations from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), we were able to distribute free bean and corn seeds, as well as tools and other agro-input to groups of young farmers.
- We have trained many dozens of technicians and nurserymen in the lower central plateau region, and more specifically in the Saut d'Eau, Lascahobas, Boucan Carré, Savanette communities and the borough of Baptiste.
- With the financial help of the Haiti Department of Justice, we have helped over 50 families of the municipality of Lascahobas, all victims of the 1991 military coup d’état. The funds provided by the minister Max Antoine have been used to deploy a series of rescue projects aiming at the rapid recovery of agricultural and commercial activities of these families, who were already living in poverty. Through our guidance and the efforts of the communal farmers of petit fond (Lascahobas), we have helped re-launching and creation of a local seed production pole in the locality of Chapoteau (communal section of petit fond).

Thank you for your donations.
